The SPFC origins (1900-1935)
The treecollors from Morumbi, as we know it nowadays, was founded
in 1935, but the passion for the futball comes from the past.
More precisely, in the last year of the 19th century, in 1900,
when the Atletic Paulistano club was founded.
In the beginning of the 20th century, The
Sao Paulo was the best team and won all the games. To play
against Friedenreich team was a pride, and the team went
frequently to the countryside accepting invitations. This reputed
team was the first to make an excursion to Europe in 1925. The
club didn't accept that the players got profissionalized and
decided to finish with the football department, to continue in
the amateur leage.
And what should they do with the supporting
members? The same problem had finished with the Palmeiras team.
The answer was the foundation of the São Paulo da Floresta in
1930, with players and thecollors red and white coming from the
Paulistano (great players like Araken, Friedenreich and Waldemar
de Brito), and with the white and black given from the A.A
Palmeiras. From the union, came the name, São Paulo da Floresta.
The first president of São Paulo Futebol Clube was DR. Edgar de
Souza.
In the same year, this team would be vice champion, that
indicates their glory.The absolute glory would come in the next
season, we won our first trophy with brilliant athletes
likeNestor (Joãozinho); Clodô and Barthô; Milton, Bino and
Sasse; Luizinho, Siriri (Armandinho), Fried, Araken and
Junqueirinha. The coach was Rubens Salles. In 1933, the São
PAulo da Floresta, still not São Paulo Futebol Clube beated
another team called Santos for 5 x 1 in the first professional
football game in Brazil.
Unfortunately, our glorious team had a lot of debts and had to
get together with Tietê club, which determined that São Paulo
Da Floresta couldn´t wear the uniforms and other symbols that
they used to use before. On the official day of the club
extintion, the love from those who cheared for this team kept it
alive and created the São Paulo of today. On the 4th June that
year, Clube Atlético São Paulo was born, and on the 16th
December it would be renamed São Paulo Futebol Clube.
Manoel do Carmo Meca was the first president from the new club. A list from the others presidents and founders of the club is below: Cid Mattos Viana, Francisco Pereira Carneiro, Eólo Campos, Manoel Arruda Nascimento, Izidoro Narvais Caro, Francisco Ribeiro Carril, Porphírio da Paz, Eduardo Oliveira Pirajá, Frederico A G. Menzen, Francisco Bastos, Sebastião Gouvêa, Dorival Gomes dos Santos, Deocleciano Dantas de Freitas and Carlos A. Azevedo Salles Jr.

This team has grown up very much and nowadays is one of the biggest and richest of Brazil. He has his own organized chears, that are called Torcida Independente and Dragões da Real.
